Network and WAN Refresh
Our customer required a full replacement of their legacy network consisting of a large head office, factory and several regional office locations. It was built on disparate whitebox hardware and aging VPN technologies. This also coincided with the relocation of their national head office, and fitout of a new factory space. We were able to stage and co-ordinate this change and execute the cutover over a long weekend.
This project was a significant challenge as during the original scoped works, the customer made the decision to relocate their head office and factory. This necessitated us to pivot from the original design to provide network coverage for a much larger space which had no existing fitout in place.
This project touched on every part of the business ranging from meeting rooms with video conferencing equipment, printers, security access and surveillance, network access for heavy machinery and ip telephony all while maintaining access to key systems so the business could operate during the transition.
In scope was a full network infrastructure replacement including:
- Audit and document existing security rules and requirements
- Server room and comms rack design
- Survey new site for wireless coverage, planning and coordination with trades
- Replacement of legacy firewalls with modern NGFW equipment and adding hardware redundancy to eliminate single points of failure
- Replacement of wired and wireless infrastructure including a redundant non-blocking 10G network core
- Automatic distribution and configuration of new remote access VPN client
- Implementation of a resilient SDWAN overlay
- Server and comms equipment relocation
The Sneeknet team were able to execute this migration in one weekend with minimal disruption to the business who were able to work effectively first thing Monday morning after the cutover.
